Vacheronwatch.com Review |
|
The sides of this 10-inch nonstick griddle are low and slope gently, so your crêpes slide out without falling apart and your pancakes flip easily. No matter what you're cooking, you're guaranteed quick and even heat distribution, easy food release, and simple cleaning, thanks to the pan's three layers: an aluminum core, a hard-anodized exterior, and a reinforced nonstick surface. The aluminum core provides rapid heat conduction, while the hard-anodized exterior increases the griddle's durability. The nonstick surface allows you to cook low-fat meals without using any oil or butter. The griddle includes a collector's edition recipe card. As with all nonstick surfaces, you should not use metal utensils or abrasive cleaners with the griddle; doing so could void the lifetime warranty. --Laura Cuthbert |

Calphalon NonStick? |
|
This is a great pan, when it is new. However, after a couple of years the teflon will start to flake, and everything will stick, at this point it is useless. Might I suggest the Scanpan Classic Ceramic Titanium 10-Inch Crepe Pan, it is more expensive but it will last much longer, and you will not need to handle it with kid gloves. |

Calphalon ease |
Finally, the perfect pan. It performs like advertised, imagine that. I couldn't be happier be with my new kitchen necessity than I am with my Calphalon pan. What a great product. I am glad my husband found it on Vacheronwatch.

Perfection |
|
I was intimidated by the thought of making crepes until I got this fabulous pan!! Now I feel like a master chef, my crepes are perfectly cooked, evenly colored, lovely and tender. My husband would like it if I made them every day. (Good luck with that!!) This is an excellent pan, heavy enough to heat evenly, nice length to the handle and the crepes turn easily and slide right off when they are done! |

Great Price - Perfect for Crepes, Tacos, Quesadillas, Omelettes |
I originally bought this pan while looking for a good crepe pan. Having experienced good quality from Calphalon before, I was happy to see this pan at such a low price. I have a large griddle that has served me well for several years now, but I decided to try this pan out for something other than crepes once, and it worked wonders! This is now my go-to pan for a number of dishes and it holds up under multiple uses daily.
Ideal for:
- Crepes (make sure you have an offset spatula to reach under it despite the fairly high sides)
- Pancakes
- Burger patties
- Omelettes
- Taco tortillas
- Quesadillas
- French toast
Pros:
- Excellent non-stick coating, everything slides off easily and the coating itself is very durable
- Heats up faster than most non-stick pans
- Even cooking across the bottom surface
- Quick and easy to clean
- Requires no or very little oil due to the quality of the non-stick coating
- Cool grip and durable handle (doesn't become loose with long-term use)
- Lifetime product warranty and Vacheronwatch shipping coverage
- Great price for a quality product
Cons:
- As a non-stick pan, it still heats up slower than bare stainless or anodized aluminum and doesn't produce as crisp a surface
- Handle is a little thin, making it uncomfortable to lift
- Pan is slightly heavy to begin with, but this weight is actually good for the even cooking (personally, it's worth it)
- Pan lip is a bit high and sharply angled for a crepe pan, necessitating an offset spatula (this is good for omelettes and french toast though)
- Outer anodized aluminum surface stains easily on electric burners (but this does not affect cooking)
- As a non-stick pan, you should only use plastic/nylon or other soft cooking tools with it, and you may expose food to harmful chemicals
Overall: A versatile and quality product at a good price. |

Back for the Replacement |
I am a single guy and I have used this for the last 5 years in my "kitchen": cook everything in it since it fits my portion sizes...from eggs and sausage in the AM, to fish and veggies for my dinner. Absolutely amazing - the non-stick has not eroded at all, and the poor thing has gone through some serious abuse.
I cook on high heat a lot, and it does a much better handling that than my Cuisinart non-sticks. The price, the quality, the durability of the non-stick: you can't beat this! |
